Hey sdpaso...
I checked out the web site in your signature and was reading about your vision of creating Gaited stock horses through combining Foundation appaloosa blood with the Paso Finos.
Fascinating! I wonder if you could tell us more about this project? _________________ Site owner/ admin, Wild Rose Horses

I'm not sdpaso, but I can tell you.
Once upon a time there was a breed of horse called a "Tiger". It had spots like the Appy, but the gait of a Paso Fino. In an effort to recreate that breed, there are a select few who are crossing gaited Appys with the Pasos. My friend, sdpaso, is (I think) the only one doing it here in Canada. I know a woman in the States who is, and I know OF another woman in the States who is.
Her Appy colt is just coming two years old now. He's going to be HUGE and he is what they call a "few spot", which, essentially, means that whatever mare he covers, the baby WILL have spots. Now we're waiting to see that the gait remains and that his conformation stays true as he matures. Assuming everything's a "go", sdpaso will (hopefully) have her first Tiger babies on the ground next year.
When she does, I'm sure there will be pictures galore. *lol*
In the meantime, when we ride, we ride as "The Paso Fino Posse". Sdpaso is our sheriff ... the rest of us are mere deputies. *grin* _________________ Anybody who goes to bed on the same day they got up is a quitter. |
